Gayle's DancePhase was started in Gayle and Tina's basement 38 years ago! The sisters have grown their Gayle's DancePhase Family every year since. Read below to find out more about our founders and staff.
Miss Tina has spent her life pursuing her passion for dance. She has been a part of the studio since it began. Miss Tina’s students have gone on to have wonderful careers is dance and art related fields. She has continued to train with some of the best teachers in the country and she brings that knowledge back to all her classes. Miss Tina is well rounded and teaches all subjects at GDP. Miss Tina is a member of and certified to teach by Dance Masters of America and the Cecchetti Council of America. She is also the Co-Director of the Majestic Dance Ensemble of Michigan.
Miss Gayle is one of the founding teachers of GDP. This is her 32nd year running a dance studio. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University. Miss Gayle is certified to teach quality dance by Dance Masters of America and Dance Educators of America. Miss Gayle teaches classes in both the recreational program and the competitive program. Miss Gayle's competition teams have won many awards on a regional and national level. Her works have been honored as "Most Entertaining" as well as winning many top awards. Miss Gayle is married and a mother to a son, A.J. and a daughter, Alyssa.
Miss Sarah started dancing at the age of 2. She knew growing up that dance was her passion. She started dancing competitively when she was 6 and has won many dance award and titles. She travels around the United States taking class with some of the world’s best teachers including Mia Michaels, Mark Meismer, Steve LaChance, Tyce Diorio, Paula Morgan, Mandy Moore and many others. Miss Sarah began teaching at the age of 13 and has never stopped. She teaches all subjects, both competitive and non-competitive, to dancers of all ages and abilities. Her dances have won many high point awards both regionally and nationally. Her dances have also won many special judges awards including Most Entertaining, Best Technique, Showmanship, Most Emotional, Best in Category & Best Choreography. Miss Sarah is a member of the Cecchetti Council of America and a certified dance teacher. She is also the Co-Director of the Majestic Dance Ensemble of Michigan. She is also a proud mother to a little girl named Kinsley.
Miss Michele began at Gayle’s as a student of 11 years. She graduated from Oakland University in 2004 with a Bachelors of General Studies degree with a Health Science focus. Michele taught dance for 5 years before taking over the administrator position. If you need help with anything at our studio, Michele has the answer or can get it quick. She really understands all aspects of the studio. Miss Michele is now married with one child. Her daughter Lilly is now a student at GDP.
Miss Nina started dancing when she was only 2 years old. She danced for many years as a competitive dancer. When she entered high school, she joined the Pom-pom team and soon became their captain. After high school, Miss Nina attended college at Michigan State University where she graduated in 2005 with a communications degree. This is Miss Nina's 20th year of teaching dance. She teaches both competition and non-competition classes. Her dances have won high point awards and judges awards including, Precision Award and Best Costume. Miss Nina is married and mother to a son, Beck and two daughters, Willow and Lydia.
Miss Danielle started dancing as a child and was winning competitions by age 11. She travels to LA & NYC to train with world renound teachers including Steven LaChance, Paula Morgan, Mandy Moore, Mark Meismer, NappyTabs, Tyce Diorio, Twitch, and many more. Miss. Danielle has been teaching at GDP for 17 years. She teaches both competitive and non competition classes. Many of her dances have won high point awards. They have also won special judges awards such as most entertaining, best costume, best in category, most emotional and technique awards. Miss. Danielle won the 2015 Rainbow dance competition top choreography award. Not only is Miss Danielle an amazing teacher, she is also a hairstylist at One Salon in Novi.
Miss Shelby graduated from Central Michigan University in December 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Art degree majoring in Communications and minoring in Marketing. She was a dance team member at CMU for 2 years and a Captain her final season. Currently she is a Clinical Recruiter for a staffing company in Southfield, working with companies like Henry Ford Health Systems, General Motors, and Caterpillar. Before starting her teaching career at Gayles’s, Shelby was a student for 17 years performing in all styles of dance. Recently Shelby started her own dance team for dancers who are not offered UDA dance teams at their high schools and became the head coach of the Oakland All-Stars Dance team. Miss Shelby loves spending time with her family especially her (fur) baby Millie.
Miss Meaghan graduated from Wayne State University in December 2013 with Bachelor’s of Art degree majoring in Public Relations. She’s currently an account assistant on the social media team at Identity, an integrated marketing and public relations firm in Bingham Farms. Meaghan has been teaching dance for the past eight years in many subjects, including jazz, lyrical, tap, ballet and hip hop. She coached the Northville High School junior varsity dance team for the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 seasons as well as the University of Detroit Mercy Dance Team for the 2013/2014 season. Currently, she is Head Coach for the Walled Lake Northern varsity poms team. In her spare time she co-directs Distinguished Young Women of Oakland County, a scholarship program for high school girl seniors.
Miss Emily has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She trained at Gayle's DancePhase for 15 years and was on a competition team for seven years. She went on to Grand Valley State University where she earned a minor in dance! Miss Emily has been teaching dance and tumbling since graduating college in 2013 and loves getting to teach where she grew up dancing!
Miss Rachel has been dancing since the age of two at Gayle's DancePhase. She trained competitively for 15 years. She is a graduate of Michigan State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies. While at MSU, Rachel was a four year member of the MSU Dance Club and spent two years as the club's Secretary. She has had the opportunity to travel and take classes from many well known choreographers. Miss Rachel is so happy to be back teaching dance at the studio where her love for began!
Miss Reagan has been dancing since the age of 3 and started competing at GDP at the age of 7. She is currently a member of GDP’s Senior Elite Company. In addition, she has been a member of Novi Dance Company the past 3 years and this will be her 2nd year on the Oakland All Stars Dance Team. Over the past couple years, she has travelled to LA to continue her dance training with MusEffect.
Brandon Koepsell is a Detroit native and graduate of the Walnut Hill School in Natick, MA. After graduation in 2005, Brandon spent time performing with “Companie Coline" in Istre, France, Rapture Dance Project and Ron DeJesus Dance in Chicago. Brandon has been a guest performer and choreographer with several college programs including the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Oakland University, Alma College and Wayne State University. He has appeared with the Michigan Opera Theater in the productions of “ Aida" and "The Merry Widow". He was the choreographic assistant on the set of Disney’s “Oz, the Great and Powerful” and a credited dancer in “A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas”. In collaboration with Jaclyn Walsh, Brandon has presented work at the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival in 2015 and 2018 and at Green Box Arts Festival in Green Mountain Falls, CO in 2019 as part of Larry Keigwin’s “Dynamic Duets”. Brandon has served as a faculty member with the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters, the Southern Association of Dance Masters and as a faculty member in the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance at Wayne State University in Detroit. He is a current dancer with Take Root dance company and a company instructor for Eisenhower Dance Detroit. Brandon also has been teaching weekly Dance for Parkinson’s classes hosted at the Henry Ford Health Systems in Detroit to individuals afflicted by Parkinson’s disease for the past 3 years.
Miss Sara has been dancing since she was 2 years old. She began competing at 6 years old. Miss Sara was on the EMU dance team for one season. She was also apart of the Walled Lake Western pom team for 4 years. She is currently attending EMU to get her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education.
Miss Alex graduated from Grand Valley State University in April 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Radiation Therapy. She was a member of the GVSU dance team for four years and was a Captain for her final two years. She is currently a full-time radiation therapist at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Flint. Alex started dancing at the age of 3 and was on the competitive team at Gayle’s for 10 years. This is her second year back teaching at Gayle’s and she is also an assistant coach of the Oakland All-Stars Dance Team.
Miss Sam has been dancing since she was three years old and is a current member of the Senior Elite Team. She is a senior at Milford High School and has been on the varsity pom team for the last three years. She began competing at four years old and has won several national championships. She has trained at Broadway Dance Center, as well as various LA facilities. Her 15 minutes of fame came at age nine when the cameraman of Dance Moms stepped on her foot on her birthday during a televised competition. Outside of dance, she is a member of the National Honor Society and The Milford Messenger, her school newspaper. She works at the front desk and is always happy to help with anything you may need.
